Inserting still Photos in timeline

Bergie wrote on 11/17/2014, 9:36 AM
I'm inserting over 100 still photos into my project timeline. Very cumbersome & time consuming: Auto Ripple does not move existing clips to right. I must use insert tab>time>select the time for the clip. That opens the space then I can insert the pic from preview. Isn't there a one step process? Am I missing something in Auto Ripple?
Also frustrated when in the process the selected timeline (video) jumps to a different timeline about half the time! I have to "undo" and start all over!
Using VP11
Thanks for any help.

Set your desired overlap in preferences, then select all the photos in project media and drag the selection to the timeline. They will be placed on the timeline in the same order they are in you project media, with the specified overlap (or cut).

"Auto Ripple does not move existing clips to right". Are you inserting the cursor, OR dragging the new clips into a space before your existing clips? Another method of moving a whole track media; Right click the first clip, 'select all to end' drag all to where you want them.

My free Timeline Tools Vegas Extension has several built-in features for laying out images in the timeline exactly like what you're doing. The following tutorial shows you how to use Timeline tools to move and re-arrange your Events in the timeline to create different types of slideshows. You may want to first look at the training video showing how Timeline Tools moves, and re-arranges Events on the Vegas Timeline.

This sounds like you are inadvertently dragging the video to another timeline.
It is surprisingly easy to do when there are multiple tracks..

Definitely try Timeline Tools.
I create movies which are a fusion of 50-100 video clips with around 350 stills which just wouldn't be practical without a product like Timeline Tools.

Very easy to screw up when your just dragging and inserting on a multiple track timeline, with TLT you select exactly what you want and where you want it, and if you still get it wrong the vegas undo button puts it all back in just one click.

And the supports good to.
