Not entirely sure what you mean. Do you mean that you can only add one more of each for a total of 4 video tracks and 4 audio tracks? If so, that's the limit of Vegas Movie Studio. If you want more tracks then update to Vegas Pro 8.

Or do you mean that you can only add one clip to the timeline and can't add more? If so, explain to us how you're adding it and we can tell you what you're doing wrong. Generally i drag files from the Vegas explorer window to the timeline and can keep adding as many files as i want.

You were correct the first time. What a shame there is a limit.

How would I go about upgrading to Pro?

I'm afraid it's a bit pricey compared to the studio version. It does come with quite a few features that the studio version doesn't have though.

One thing to think about before you spend the upgrade $$$ - you can get around the 4-track limit, albeit with a bit of extra work.

You can "fill-up" four tracks, then render to a file, then pull that file in as one track and keep adding on top of it. Using this approach you can get a virtual unlimited number of tracks. I've found that for the percentage of time I need more than 4 tracks (in my case about 10% of the time), this approach is sufficient.

For example I once made a video using this approach that had a nice 3-layered feel - a "background" composite (still image & some motion videos) which required 4 tracks, a "middle" composite (multiple objects flying around at the same time, passing over the background) which required 4 tracks, and a "foreground" composite (multiple lines of text in animation, appearing "on top" of the background & flying objects) which required 4 tracks. 12 tracks total, and I did this with the 4 track limit. Just requires a little bit extra pre-planning thought.

Note that if you are interested in upgrading to Vegas Pro, through the end of October, you can get the upgrade for $299 instead of the
regular $440 for the upgrade.
