Instagram stories format

HI everyone, I have some troubles rendering a video for a university project... they asked me a vertical video, (9:16) in order to publish it on istagram, I don't know how to do it, so I tried to change width and hight in the project properties... anyhow, once rendered, if I open it on my mobile the proportions are correct, but the size doesn't fit the screen, what could i do? thanks

Which version of VMS are you using and is it Basic or Platinum?

I thought Instagram videos were square? Seems strange asking for 9:16.

my version is movie studio platinum 16 Eric, for Ken: you are right, but I am referring to the "stories" template, let's say that I'd like to create an edited video in the same format of the vertical camera of your smartphone :)

Makes me curious about this, as I recently needed to upload so many videos to IG story for a local challenge. Admit it, I didn't think that mine was cropped...haha, as I just want to post it asap, as it expands more than 1 post of 15 seconds limit.

So, the possible answer is... it depends on your Android smartphone display size is.

I'm currently using Asus Zenfone 5 ZE620KL, with display resolution screen of 18.7:9 ratio! (1080x2246 pixel) instead of 1080x1920. The app will expand fit the height while cropping the width! This seems exactly similarly happening when you want to post a 'standard' 1920x1080 to ig story, only the center part of the video source will be shown by default.

Now, what is your phone model? I believe your phone's size is also taller, more than 9:16 aspect ratio display.

set, thank you for the explanation, I really appreciate it. I stopped myself opening the video on the folder of my mobile, where the trouble is, but, uploading it on the istagram stories it works, as you said IG adapts it to the screen, you saved me from a true waste of time :D
