Install V11 32 or 64bit on 64bit windows

Former user wrote on 10/12/2012, 12:42 PM
I am trying to work over to my 64 bit windows install. I don't have V12 yet and I have had very few problems with V11 32bit on my 32bit Windows. Should I just stay with that in 64bit land since the 64bit version seems to have caused so many problems for others?

Thanks for your opinions.

I would install the 64-bit version. There is a performance advantage. I can't say you won't have any problems so I'll just say to save often. :-)

I stick to the 32 bit version because of some 32 bit plug-ins - and I am very satisfied with the 32 bit version (build 700) - it is rock stable here and it seems that the former 32 bit limitations as to project size and media have been solved perfectly.
I am about to forget what "regular saving" means... :- )
Works well with my Nvidia GPUs too.

Why not install both!

PLS,

Thanks, but I don't like having two versions of software, especially Vegas which is right on the edge of being stable, installed.

I went with the 32 bit because of some plugins that I use and I have had good luck with it.

video777,

Went with 32 bit, decided I prefer stability over performance for now. Will probably upgrade to 12 soon.

Thanks

ritsmer,

Thanks for reminding me about the plugins, so I went with 32 bit.

Red Prince,

Yeah, I know I will have to switch soon, but figured by then, the plugins will be 64 bit as well.

Running on 64bit system with Win7 64bit with latest updates installed.

Installed Vegas 11 32bit and 64bit no problems. Finishing current project in V11 32bit.

Installed Vegas 12 and completed 2 photo montages containing 60 - 70 huge 18MP images with lots of FX's and rendered out no problems. It did crash a few times during editing though.

Both running side by side no compatability problems.

@ DaveT2: if you use the great Sony Audio Noise Reduction pls. note that 1) it is 32 bit only and 2) despite a 64 bit version is supposed to be included with Vegas 12 that plugin is not available yet.

Besides I have bought and installed V12 too - but rendering most often hung.
Probably a Windows/ Nvidia driver issue, but I had no tine to investigate - worse: My super stable V11 (32 bit !!) immediately started to hang when rendering the same way as V12 did, and only after uninstalling both and deleting in registry etc and then re-installing V11 32 bit my system is super stable again including GPU acceleration.

I have VP10 32 and 64 bit installed together with VP12 (which is 64 bit only). All running very well with no issues yet detected.

Good to know.
I have to troubleshoot my Windows 7, drivers etc. to find a stable environment for my Vegas 12...

BTW: which Nvidia driver do you use ?

Go to nVidia website. Multiple drop down boxes asking OS and adapter series. Very easy to navigate to.
