Are you running Win98 Gold or Win98 Second Edition? This
makes a huge difference...

Window Gold ?? What is it? Never heard of it...is it
different from WIN S.E. ??

Win 98 Gold was the last build of First Edition. The reason
I ask is because the minimum OS requirement for VV is Win
98 Second Edition. It won't work on Gold (aka First
Edition). There was a slew of multimedia changes from first
to second edition, so while 98 Gold and 98 SE are both
based on the Win9x kernel, VV's advanced features won't
work with 98 first edition. Same goes for DX8 I believe.
Sorry, but you're going to have to upgrade to run it.

upgrading 98 to 98SE will certainly change a few things,
and even if I knew exactly what is on your 98 patition, I
would never promise it would be a seamless, transparent
transition. I had good luck doing this, but I didn't have a
ton of 3rd party hardware. The problems, if any, will
likely be driver realted.

Win2k should remain intact...should. Don't hold me to it.
