Hello, I'm trying to install Movie Studio 17 but keep getting a communication error telling me to check my internet connection which is clearly working. I searched the Internet for solutions and was told to disable firewall which I tried but still didn't work.

What firewall did you disable? I ask because maybe you had Windows Defender still running which has been known to cause problems.

It was Windows Defender.

I thought allowing an application through the firewall was only necessary when the application

opens a listening port. Is this what Vegas does?

When I've ran other programs in the past that needed this, Windows would prompt me to

allow/deny the operation. What's happening here?
