Installation of WEB version V4.0

I downloaded the web version demo of V40 (vegas video)...and it will not open the installer! (yes i've tried redownloading, restarting, etc. etc.).
The error i get is:

Unable to write to the temp directory C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\.
Check that you have write access to this directory.

Well i DO have write access, and in fact the V3.0c LE seems to install fine, along with every other program!
Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks
Scott

How do you know that you have write access? What method have you used to determine that you have such access?

Also...what OS are you using?

. . . errmmm... how full is your TEMP directory? - Give it a bit of housekeeping anyway. Always makes me feel good! Defrag anybody? -No . . . well give that a go to. - I once had a crash Web install from something... made a total "mesh" of my temp dir - looked as if a herd of elephants had run riot in there - don't yer know? - oooh got out me brush and swept that sucker clean!

Windows ME - (i know i have write access, because i can write and move files into and out of this folder! haha).
Also, because i can install any other software (including the downloadable vegas LE 3.0!).

I can clean the temp folder - there is a ton of random crap in it. buit, how do i know if i NEED any of that random crap? haha.

My philosophy: If it's in temp - I don't need it!

Scott - How much . . . rubbish is residing in your temp? It's not only how much, but how many files. I think I remember from my DOS days there's actually a ceiling the number of files/folders one can have in a single DIR. Go above this and there's a lock out. Maybe one can copy/move/write 1 or 2 or 3...10 items to this folder, but who klnows how much "space" / "item" assigns are going to be placed in TEMP once a programme starts having its way with it?

It sounds like the TEMP may be your problem. - I've been in doubt about cleaning my TEMP out - I made a "This Is Rubbish From Windows Temp Directory" directory, and stuff I didn't see/understand as being literally TMP stuff, over and above a week old, I moved there. Rebooted and waited for the "Doah! I can't find my $%£^& file!" message from my DellBoy - hasn't/didn't happen. What can I say? - You can go with Jetdv's comment and/or you can try a more of a , " . . .oooh maybe I need this?" approach. Up to you - yeah?

Ohh - I use WinME! You too eh? When was the last time you used the Disk Cleanup facility? That will give you a report as to the amount of space, what is where, with regard to "get rid".

Start with a bit of housekeeping - Then look for other demons - yeah?
