Hi hopefully some one can help me, this is my first post so 'go easy on me' I purchased Vegas Movie Maker Platinum HD 10 a few months ago and installed it with no problems at all, I then had problems with MS updates on my PC which neccesitated me re-loading Win 7 all good but then when I came to use Vegas 10 it wouldnt recognise my Canon HG10 camcorder so then followed many re - installs I have scan disked, de fragged uninstalled with Win 7 and utility software, cleaned the registry every time and even tried in safe mode always the same thing -The software starts to load then after between 15 & 45 seconds says it has installed and allows me to register etc it then opens (quite quickly compared to before) but wont recognise my camera? I have seen what maybe a fix but looks a daunting bit of registry work and wanted to confirm
with you guys before attempting it just in case there was a simpler way (please!!) Thanks for you time. Regards Clive

Can Windows Explorer "see" the camera mounted? If yes, then all you need to do is to navigate into it, and copy to your drive the .mts files. Then you can direct Vegas manually to these files on your drive, no need for automatic usage of the camera via vegas.

Hello Eugenia, thanks for your reply but I dont have a clue what you mean, apologies for that. I can see and play all clips on my camera through IE but just feel the program is not fully loading and is not working as it should, I will experiment with your sugestion to see if I can suss anything out and let you know, thanks again Clive

Update. Ah ha, see what you mean I can import manually from navigating to the Camera which is a work round and I thank you as I can get on with my project but its a shame the software is not performing as it should, thanks again.

Update - I can now copy my project onto the time line but only when the camera is connected as soon as I disconnect the camera I lose everything even when I have 'saved as' what am I doing wrong?

It sounds like your are "running" your project from the clips/files still located on your camera.

If that is true, then you simply need to:

1) Using Windows IE, Copy your clips/files from your camera to your harddrive.

2) In VMS, Import your files from your harddrive into your project.
