Installing old (pre 8) Vegas on a Vista system

Though Vegas Pro 8 was the first version to support Vista, I found that I was still able to successfully install Vegas 7 as well as Media Manager.

During the installation you will receive a message that the version of SQL being installed is not supported. The installation then quits but by this point Vegas itself has been successfully installed. Now uninstall Media manager 2.2 and install version 2.4 which can be downloaded separately. SQL will now install properly. You will find that V7 and MM2.4 coexist perfectly. DVD Architect 4.0 also installs correctly.

I actually have a copy of Vegas 5 on my Vista 64bit system. It seems to run just fine...

my dad's copy of vegas 6 has some issues on vista: can't rip tracks from cd's, causes the system to hang for a long time. can't burn to CD straight from TL. Basically, anything cd related has issues.
