installing the demo vegas 4.0 under xp prof doesn't work

hi folks

i'm new here and i would say hello to everybody.

my problems are:

i've an notebook (toshiba) with windows xp prof, 512 ram, 1.7 ghz, geforce 420 to go and i'm trying to install the demo version (first ;-)) but it breaks up with the error : "unable to write to the temp directory in c:\\...\oswald\temp. check that you have write access to that directory"

i'm the only user and the computeradmin of this computer and i can manually write to this directory but the vegas.exe don't.

whats wrong ?

please help (the costumer support doesn't answer yet) quick, because i would by till 15 march 2003 ?

Vegas will be running in the same context as your user account, so if you can write to that folder, so can Vegas. Here's two things to check:

1) Make *absolutely certain* that the folder Vegas isn't able to write to truly exists. Often folders that are buried deep inside the user profiles section can be misleading because the names end up being so long.

2) Try setting all environment variables named TEMP, TMP, and TMPDIR to a simple folder like C:\Temp (then make sure you create that folder). Write back if you need help setting environment variables.

Finally, as cheesehole said, make sure your C: drive has enough space on it.

i've install vegas on another pc with windows nt, that works and copied all files back on my computer. now everything is working !
