installing Vasst production assistant 1 with VP10

Hi all,
Anyone having trouble installing PA v1 when you only have Vegas10 installed?
You get an error saying Vegas is not installed etc.. You get the same error with Celluloid and other Vasst products. The only work around i am aware of is installing Vegas 9...
Well, here's a little trick:
Download this little registry trick and get Vasst to believe V9 is installed.
Its really simple. Tiny reg file, click and install it.
I have only tested this on Windows 7 64 bit. So please, sorry if it doesnt work on others.
Vasst simulate VP9 32 bit.reg

good luck
Paul.

Hi Paul,

All of the VASST plug-ins installers (Ultimate S Pro, GearShift, Celluloid, infinitiCAM, Celluloid, etc. with the except of the Freeware but we're working on that) have been updated to recognize Vegas Pro 10. The installer will have a new version number but the plug-ins will still have the old version number because they didn't change. No need for registry hacks, just download the latest installers.

Vegas Pro Production Assistant v1.0 does not recognize Vegas Pro 10.0 because we introduced version 2.0 which works with Vegas Pro 10.0. You are correct that if you have Vegas Pro 9.0 installed it will install with 10.0. It just doesn't look for Vegas Pro 10.0 in the installer.

We do not support or condone registry hacks which usually cause problems later when you least expect it.

Hi Johnny,
Thanks for that.
But my immediate problem was this: i just bought into PA1 just two months ago and even more recent, like a lot of us, i got vegas10. Now my problem was this - it would not install. And it is the latest download. 1.0.17.40341.
So faced with that fact - i was stuck!
This is a work around to allow me to use what i have paid for. Is that fair?.
I agree with you, reg fixes are not good. and i too dont think this is a great idea. But at least now i can use the PA i paid for.

The best solution - release an update to v1 (did you said you're working on that?, great! any time scales?). Lots of people using it still.
I personally dont really want to upgrade to v2 just yet, i have no need in my own case to do so. But maybe one day. So for now, this works just great.

Ok, at the end of the day, it is a fix to the registry, even though its a simple one entry. Agreed, reg fixes (some may call it a hack, i see this as a fix) can be dangerous!! .

Johnny, Im faily new to this forum, so if the guys think this reg fix is against the vegas forum ethic in any way , i will gladly remove it. Im just a video guy trying to use his software. An update would be wonderful. :)
