I need to render an avi file after editing using windows media codecs mpeg4 v3. But vegas displays on ISO mpeg4 v1. Is there any way of installing mpeg4 v3 codecs into vegas. I have windows media encoder and it displays these codecs and not vegas.
WMV7 (or WMV8 or WMV9) is probably where MS and Sony have their attention. Just checking your reasoning?
Although nothing wrong with the activemovie/video-for-windows era codecs, the mpeg4 v3 is neither MPEG-4 nor the latest version of what MS proposed for MPEG-4 use. M4V3 might suit going to Linux or a specialised set top box, but if not WMV(9), other AVI types are probably where it is at (DiVX ;-), On2's VP6, TechSmiths TSCC (high bit depth CG/screenscrapes),QT6-MP4,Real Helix RV9, Macromedia/WildForm Flix etc, all) probably have the edge.
