integrated DVD burning - not integrated

Sony states: Integrated DVD burning & over 40 exclusive DVD menus from the Sony Pictures Digital Authoring Center onthe features list.

This has been very misleading to those looking to switch from Studio8. The hardcore pinnacle guys are suing this as ammo to say Sony is full of sh!t when it comes to the comparisions.

Sony may want to consider rewording this since it is not really integrated...but rather interoperates with mydvd.

You are right, I hadnt noticed that. Also, how can they state that S8 does not have drag-and-drop transitions? S8 users know this is not true either. I am a wannabe ex-S8 user but my opinion of Sony is dropping quickly when I see these untruths.

The drag and drop of customized effect if what they mean (i think). You need to edit the Studio effects in Hollywood whereas in MS you drop and set.

I am an ex-Studio user... all I can say is that I love Movie Studio. It does not crash, I have no out of synch issues, and the effects are better looking.

It also does chromakey which studio8 cannot do. Chromakey is similar to the green screening you see movie makers do - it allows you to filter out a background and display the video below it.

Movie Studio also has multiple video tracks - Studio8 does not. This opens a great deal of creativity in MS.

lastly, Movie Studio does picture in picture - you cant do it in Studio8. You can display a video within a video which also opens a great deal of creativity.

All in all, Movie studio is a great deal. It works more importanty. My Studio8 did nothing but crash.

The only weakness in my opinion is that it uses myDVD for authoring, but thats a personal perference.

I try not to read into the marketing fluff of "we do this, they do not" and get trials and run them side by side to see which one I prefer.

Have you tried the free demo of Movie Studio yet? You'll like it.

PLUS>>>> if you keep an eye on www.spoofee.com you might be able to get it using a discount coupon from one of the retailers.

Well, the box states that S8 does not have "Drag-and-drop control of transitions" and I know that I definately drag-and-drop transitions onto the storyboard and timeline.

I am currently using the trial and I like it but is is limited in that I cannot create any DVD's because myDVD was not installed in the trial. I have another thread posing some questions about the creation of DVD's.

How is the support for this product? I submitted a couple questions for support on the 31st and have not gotten a response yet. I understand that they may still be off for the holiday.

S8 does not "drag and drop CONTROL" they have drag and drop effects, but to control them, you must do it via Hollywood FX interface.

in MS, everything is in the giu once dropped.
