Interlaced Video Issues

I'm trying to finish up a video to get it out to clients but I'm running into a real problem with how DVDA is re-rendering the video.

It appears like it is tossing out one field and just doubling the lines from the other field. This is for video that is brought in as a DV-encoded (NTSC) AVI file from Vegas 4.0e - mpeg2's don't show this problem. This is really evident in wording and logos with thin lines, but even textures loose their smoothness and become blocky.

I can pre-render to mpeg2 for most things to work around this, but the main menu background appears to be butchered even when it is encoded as mpeg2.

I upgraded to DVDA 1.0d and this is where I'm seeing the problem. I tested with the original DVDA and the problem is there as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I can't seem to find where all the options are set for the encoder - I only see what is in the DVD optimizer for setting bitrate.
