Interlaced WMV in Vegas Video 4.0

When I import an INTERLACED Windows Media 9 WMV file into a Vegas Video 4.0 project, Vegas Video does not correctly interpret the file. Vegas Video reports that the file is progressive and has an aspect ratio of 1.0. The file is actually Interlaced and has an aspect ratio of 1.333. Windows Media Player (the XP version) has no problems playing this file back in it's interlaced state and with the correct aspect ratio.

File Stats: 720x480, 29.97fps, interlaced, aspect ratio 1.333.

Why does Vegas Video not correctly read these files? The Sonic Foundry WEB Site clearly states that Vegas Video 4.0 supports Windows Media 9.

If anyone could shed some light on this it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If you know the file is interlaced you can change the file interpretation pretty easily... event> right click> media> field order.

Save this modified profile and Vegas should correctly interpret other files (with identical media properties) when added to the project.
