Interlacing on capture

SOrry for the newbie question....

I used to use Video Factory and whenever I captured from my Sony DCR-PC9 I never had any interlacing issues in any format. Now that I have upgraded to Vegas, I can never get a clean capture. In the main project properties, I switch between Prog. Scan, Upper First, Lower first, but no matter what I change in here, the captured video properties keep reverting back to Lower first which is giving me the interlacing issues. Is there another video capture setting I am missing? Even now, when I capture in Vid Factory, and transfer the media over to vegas, it works fine, but I would rather just not use video factory anymore. how can I fix this?

thanks

What video capture card are you using, and what camera/deck are you capturing from?

Capturing from a Sony DCR-PC9 minidv cam and using a Western Digital firewire card...

MiniDV is always lower field first. Where are you seeing the interlacing issues, when playing back through the camcorder to a television or in Media Player on your computer monitor?

on my plasma TV, everything looks great, on my computer through Windows Media, I see the interlacing, and on normal TVs I see interlacing....
