Interlacing & Render Problems

Here's a problem that I hope you can help me with. I am new to HD video editing, but have been editing SD video for many years using packages such as AVID & Premiere.

I recently purchased a Panasonic HD camcorder with a view to branching out into Blu-Ray authoring. After searching the market and downloading many demos, I decided to purchase Sony Vegas.

My problem is as follows.....
I am shooting in full HD (1980x1080 PAL 25 fps. Interlaced, upper field 1st, AVC codec). I am able to burn the raw files direct to Blu-Ray via Sony DVD Architect. When I do this, there is no issue with the interlace, and the pictures are crystal sharp when viewed through my HD TV. However, the problems begin when I try to edit the footage with Vegas.

It seems that no matter how I try to alter the settings, whenever I try to render a file from Vegas and burn it to Blur-Ray, the picture "ghosts". When items on the screen move horizontally, there is a ghosting of the previous frame. I have tried rendering this as "progressive", but am unable to burn this Blu-Ray as 1080 25fps progressive is not part of the blu ray standard. I have tried authoring it as "Uper field first" (the same order as the raw footage from my camcorder), but still the ghosting occurs.

Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem? I've invested a lot of time and money on this, and cannot afford for it not to succeed. I bought the camera especially to take on my noneymoon, and have promised my wife an edited Blu-Ray of our trip. Please help me guys!!

Check your project settings. Make sure the project is set for Upper Field First etc. The easiest way is to use the set project to match media button in the upper right of the project properties dialog. Use one of the source files to match to.

That is step one. See if that is it. Others will have other areas to check.
