Intermittent program crash during preview

The project consists of a 3 minute avi HD video, pre-rendered with After Effects, a couple of titles, and 3 sound tracks - music, sound effects, and voice clips. Movie Studio Platinum 11 v322 crashes unpredictably when previewing it. For example I might preview the project at the end of a session and it works fine, then when I preview it again at the start of the next session to remind myself where I had got to, with no intervening edits, it will crash. The crashes nearly always occur during one of the voice clips, which are bits of 2 .wav files created with Sound Forge. Making every clip align with frame boundaries, removing sound FX (only Volume used), and resaving one of the .wav files as .mp3, have all alowed a complete preview, only for the program to crash again at a different place following another edit, or even with no changes at all. Muting the voice track removes the crashing problem (but spoils the project of which the voice is a vital part).

I think my system configuration easily exceeds the requirements.

Eventually I finished the project by rendering it without the voice track and then adding it via a new project. However the erratic behaviour of Platinum 11 is extremely frustrating. Am I doing something wrong or is this a program fault?
