not in DVD-A 1.0 and I know nothing of what will come after.
What you ask is a UOP feature that is typically masked by the authoring program through a GUI option or through a scripting tool.

Follow the MediaChance DVDLab beta programme for the cheapest solution to such. Otherwise, you need to pay big $ for this functionality. I've not seen key masking in any sub $1000 authoring tool. Then again, I wasn't looking for it particularly.

You might be able to decode it with IFOEdit if you compare your disc with a commercial disc that doesn't have CSS protection, so as to enable you to read it's structure legally. This does require technical gymnastics. Not quite programming skills, but not too far off.

What the US discs use as "FBI Warning" uses the technique you elude to.
Some DVD players have been patched to ignore these masking techniques. (some people pay good money not to have to wait to "not read something" !)

Thanks RBartlett for the information! I'll look into IFOEdit and see if I can do something with it.

Thanks!

Using IFOEDIT open the VIDEO_TS.IFO file.
Double click on VMGM_MAT look for First Play PGC click on it.

Look for Prohibited user operations and double click it. A popup will
appear and you can click on the operations you want to prohibit.
Click OK button.

Click Save button twice and answer Yes to copy to the BUP files.

I swear to god I disabled the buttons during the intro in the past, but with the newest version if I try to disable a button during the intro it disables it for the whole DVD.

Did I miss something here ?

Muttley,
I disable buttons with DVD-A2 on a per title basis. Never had any problems with it working correctly or killing the buttons for the whole DVD. Can you give a little more background?

Not sure what else to add really. If I disable a button under " Remote Buttons " for the introduction video, the change is reflected and applied to the rest of the DVD. So if I turn off, for example, " Next " on the intro, when I click on the main menu the " Next " is still marked as " Off ", that goes for any other part of the DVD as well.

Baffled.

Adobe Encore 1.5 has this feature.

You can also disable all buttons during the play of any piece of media you want.

Just an FYI...

Just tried this -- works perfectly for me. Opened up the introductory media, changed the setting for its Next button to Off. Switched to the main menu, and its Next button is still set to On.

When you view / edit the Remote Buttons section of the Properties window, how are you switching between objects (intro media, menu, other media)? Are you double-clicking in the Project Overview window so you that you open that object's timeline? Or you are you just single-clicking the object, which selects it for further action (renaming, re-ordering, setting / unsetting Start media, etc)?

With regard to Remote Buttons settings, the Properties window displays / edits whichever object is currently open in the timeline.

Well apparently ... I was only highlighting the menu I wanted, not double clicking. Since so much of the properties is the same in each menu I didn't notice.

Thanks for the help guys.

Ray,
Oops... I've done that before too. I kind of wish that the properties box would should the highlighted item rather than the loaded item... it might be faster to get some things done/.
