Invisible Man... How to do it??

Can somebody please explain or point me to an article or tutorial somewhere that explains about how films like "The Invisible Man" or "Hollow Man" were done, as far as the appearance (er, lack of appearance?) of the invisible person. I'd like to experiment with some things along those lines. I've been searching online for things like that but haven't been able to find anything yet.

Thanks much,
Shaz

Look for information on chroma keying - that's going to be the easiest approach. You put your actor in front of a green screen and they are wearing a green hood over the head and green gloves on the hands. From that point it's simply a matter of seting up the key over an appropriate background.

I'm sure some of the invisible man effects were done with chroma keying, but I bet most of it was done with computer generated special effects. (aka not something Vegas can do)

But, your topic is making me think of ways to do this now... could be a cool video.

Now, this isn't exactly invisible man, but you can give someone a ghostly appearance very easy by putting your cam on a tripod, filming the room, then film the room again with a person in the room.

Then, put the track with the person in it on the upper layer and lower the opacity to about 50%. The person will appear transparent. Maybe you could think along those lines and have some fun. This is more of a "ghost" effect though.
