iPod Encoding

I have a 3 minute widescreen NTSC DV video that I want to encode for iPod.

I pick the MainConcept AVC/AAC encoder for the render. I pick Apple iPod 640X480.

Is there any option I should be setting for it being widescreen, or does the iPod just letterbox on the 4:3 screen iPods and autozoom on the 16:9 screen iPods to fill the screen from a widescreen source?

Cause the only settings for pixel aspect are 1.0 or 1.3, not the 1.21 for NTSC DV 16:9.

As for the frame rate, since my video is 29.97fps, should I tell it to use that or do I need to let it convert it to 30fps for iPod playback?

And since the iPod is doing progressive playback, do I have to do anything about deinterlacing the project, or does the render do this automatically?

Thanks.

The Render function will format perfectly for the iPod. You want to get the preview screen right so you can see beforehand what you are doing. Set project projet properties to Multimedia, 640, 480 and 30fps. Pixel Aspect ratio 1.0000 (Wow! Five Significant Digits of precision) Then use pan and crop or Track Motion to zoome and get what you want to see on the iPod.

I zoom in and fill up the vertical on the iPod and lose some on the sides.
