iPod Help

Where can I find a layman's tutorial to producing video for the iPod. Unfortunately, I've avoided this so far...now I'm stuck being the "uninformed".

Producing the standard video is no problem. What I need to know is information such as format, size, color range, etc.

Also, is it necessary to load "iTunes" to transfer the video to the iPod.

I know, I know...I'm running a couple of years behind on this one, but sure would appreciate some help!

Thanks!

IMO, since you're producing videos with Vegas, you already know how to produce for an iPod.

Vegas 7 (or was it 6??) and newer have iPod render templates.
Select "MainConcept AVC/AAC (*.mp4)" in the "Save as type" box.
In the template box you'll see Apple iPod 320x240 Video and Apple iPod 640x480 Video options.

I've already taken a few family videos and dumped them to my wife's iPod.
She's been quite happy with the results.

If I was producing strictly for the iPod, I'd do things like make the text a bit larger (so that it could read easier) and not use a lot of extremely wide cover shots (detail gets lost).

Keep in mind that a lot of iPod users are watching their favourite TV shows on it and I don't hear too many complaints.

Odds are that you are your own worst critic so try exporting a few of your projects to an iPod and see what you think.
