is a slight color shift normal when rendering 32bit to 8bit?

Just wondering, as IO'm not all too savvy in color science and tech math in general - I exported a 4k 10bit 422 project tio a prores 422 HD intermediate, and rendered the final AVC HD version from there, applying the levels filter back to studio RGB. Contrast etc looks great as it should be, but I see a slight shift towards yellow in the final HD render.

Is this to be expected in the conversion to 8 bit?

Can you specific exactly what project settings you used?
If you judge the footage in VEGAS does it match (possible the player itself is a factor)?
