Why not just order online? (That was linked to from Boris' website, by the way, so it's not just some random retailer.)

I met The "Boris" on 2 separate occasions- once in London and once in IBC-Amsterdam - no hoax there! I promise you that Pal!

I want to be certain I can get the special Vegas LTD-to-Graffiti upgrade price.
bStro wrote on 10/17/2006, 7:43 AM
Where did you see talk of a special upgrade price?

This is what I'm looking at. It's news to me, but it may be old news for everyone else:

That price is the same as any other LTD to full version upgrade price listed on that site, so apparently it's not specific to Vegas users.

At any rate, given that they provide a link to order the upgrade, I imagine it's just as "foolproof" as if you order by e-mail.

Wow! No wonder you can't get through!! $149 for an upgrade from LTD to BG4? Seesshh ..
drmathprog wrote on 10/17/2006, 8:00 AM
Is that "Sheessh, that's a good offer", or "Sheessh, what a rip-off?"
Grazie wrote on 10/17/2006, 8:10 AM
When I bought my BG3 it cost me twice that? So, IMHO, it was a seesshh to the former.
drmathprog wrote on 10/17/2006, 8:12 AM
Thanks.

BG is an amazing set of tools. The results are inspiring - BUT!m I do have a learning curve Love<>Hate relationship with it. It drives me bonkers. It is like Paint Shop Pros treatment of the fundamental things like copy and paste and resizing and LAYERS!! Again PSP should be simple. It hides itself under a mass of unreachability. BG has the same effect on me.

Now Vegas? Easy Peasy! Simple and straightforward.

drmathprog wrote on 10/17/2006, 8:39 AM
I know exactly what you mean. BG is my fallback choice because of the learning curve (and also the poor customer support, as I'm now discovering). I really like Cayman Graphics Power CG rfs much better for basic titling, which is all I need, but they have discontinued the rfs version and dropped Vegas support for the more expensive CG plus.

This is why it's best to use 'Name Brand' tools. The Big Boys will probably be around for a while. You can't be this sure about the Little Guys.

Hopefully VEGAS will fall into the category of the Big boys and be around for many moons to come.

Is Boris a Big Boy?

Yes. Absolutely.

I recently did the LTD to BG4 upgrade and found their email tech support very responsive and helpful.

There is a special page on their website where you enter your support question/issue.

I agree with the learning curve comments but the results are very good.

BTW, I am happy to report that Graffiti 3.01 runs perfectly (at least for me) in Vegas 7. Now how it integrates within Vegas is another matter. But otherwise, quirks aside, it's versatile and impressive...

I guess I have an even steeper learning curve to overcome; tomorrow I receive my copy of Boris Red! From everything I have experienced thus far, it is a great product. However, I really wish the Boris plugins were truly integrated. I still don't understand why the Vegas developers don't provide better hooks to the editor. A true integration would be a win-win solution.
