Is it finally working?

I apologize for the misleading title but my posting (934)
is still unanswered.
I want to buy the software but the apparent lack of
interest is really putting me off(I apologize again for
being pushy and so demanding but...), now to what really
matters...

Bearing in mind that I know nearly zero about the tech
audio (and particularly MIDI) stuff, and after reading a
lot of postings I still need the reassurance that Vegas
will sync to the MIDI signal coming from my RED beat
extractor (MIDI Implementation: System Real Time/ clock
commands=transmitted), meaning that I can have a track to
play in sync for a live mixing.
Another question is: when the features refer to unlimited
tracks are those able to be handled (excuse my English)in a
similar way they are in ACID?.
For a last question I would Like to know if it is possible
to ad (load?) (like an EFX plug-in) an fraunhofer MP3
encoder for bit rates lower than 256 kbps (128 or lower if
possible)and if not is there any chance this or similar
quality encoder will be included in future versions?

Thank you very much for your time and advise

I will start with the usual disclaimer here.

This is a peer to peer formum. It is not a Sonic Foundry support
forum. It is not regularly monitored by us. If you have specific
questions that you must have a response from Sonic Foundry, please
click on the "Tech Support" link above and e-mail us directly.

Having said this, I will try to answer you.

What is a RED beat extractor - who makes it?

Vegas will sync to incomming MTC (MIDI Time Clock) only. It will
generate MTC and MIDI Clock. MIDI System Realtime clock sounds like
the RED beat is transmiting MIDI Clock. Vegas _cannot_ chase sync to
MIDI Clock. If the RED beat can chase to MIDI Clock, then you can
have Vegas generate MIDI Clock and have the RED beat slave to Vegas.

There are no plans to have Vegas chase to MIDI Clock.

Not sure what you don't understand about unlimited tracks: It means
just that. You can have as many tracks in Vegas as you want. There
are no limitations. (Ok, I believe there is a limit of like 64
thousand or something like that, but I doubt if you will get that
far.)

MP3 encoding is not realtime. We have a MP3 encoder. It will permit
you to "render" your Vegas project to MP3 files for distribution. We
support all the bit depths. The Codec that is part of Windows will
also let you save to MP3 wave files at lower bit rates.

Hope this helps....
Peter

Hello Peter

Thank You for your answer and once again I apologise if I sounded
pushy but...I had also tryed the tech support with no success

RED is the name of a company that makes the beat extractor wich is
a little machine that converts phono audio signal (repetitive beats)
into a midi signal.
RED Midi signal allows an MC-303 (groovebox) to sync, does it give
an idea about what type of Midi signal I'm dealing with?
(my next step is a mail to RED tech support)

My question about unlimented tracks was.....redundant!

Yes, you've been most helpfull,

Thank you very much for your time
