Is it my DVD player ??

finally learned out to do Chapters and put a PLAY ALL button in. I used Add Play List.. Works PERFECTLY....on my computer.

WHen I put the disk in the commercial DVD player it is all out of whack. The files just STOP at the end ...don't play consecutvely, and the menu based files on the SELECT SONG menu do the same thing,. In addition (and this is almost spooky) When I come from song 1 and hit the NEXT FILE command on my remote it goes to song 3 and skips 2 entirely. Song 2 is on there because I can access it via the Song Select menu and Ive checked the Playlist on DVD-A ...it's there also.

Take disc out of DVD player and put it in my computer....works perfectly.

I'm going to go to a neighbors and see if I can demo it on their DVD player. Just wondering if anyone else has had this gremlin.

My first thought; Is it a good quality disc?

As I have repeatedly stated in many threads in this forum again and again, a software player should never be used for QA testing of any optical disc authoring review. ONLY set-top players can be used to adequately control the variables in a test of the authoring methodology and thus being conformed to standards.
The operation on a software player is all about interactivity (especially with the author person of the disc) and cannot be taken as a valid test.

video, I can understand and sense your frustration with repeatedly stating something, and appreciate your input an contribution, but that's neither relavant or addresses the question at hand. As I stated, the software player wasn't used to verify. It only came into play after there was an issue to try and narrow the source of the problem. I started testing on a set top and am continuing to do so.

I wrote a few copies...the first on an old CompUsa DVD-R 2x (remember them) disc. The others on Memorex16x discs. Same results.

well I just ran a test on another set top DVD and it ran fine. Half releived but fully concerned. If if's my DVD Player I'm ok with that because I don't watch DVD's much. I'm concerend more about the consistence and reliability of the discs being distributed. If it is the discs themselves... I don't really know good discs from bad (althoguh I can pretty much guess a 2x CompUSA disc is going to be bottom of the barrel).

The subject of relevant and stringent disc testing of one-off production is something that most forum members will not care about or follow. But you are encountering a situation which highlights the importance of paying attention so my remarks for you are entirely relevant.
1) Memorex media is 80% of the time considered to not be a good choice of burn product. Bettery Tayio Yuden, JVC, or Verbatim.

2) Set-top players do vary (because of firmware for the most part) and especially do vary in the remote control variables that can play a huge part in QA testing for blind audiences. I have use of a test-bed of 15 set-top optical disc players of various vintage and firmware for testing. I suggest you cross check against 3 or more set-top players.

Cheap discs are the most common reason for coaster creation. ;-)

LOL I covered the walls of my work out room with old and rejected discs. It was cool for about a month. Got retro and old very quick.
