I believe Sony allows installation on multiple computers with the provision that only one computer is running Vegas at any given time. This is really important as most of us use laptops and desktops and have no problem registering Vegas on both.

Not necessarily. For example, I use it at work, have a copy of it installed on my home computer and Sony is OK with this.
