Just for a little bit of background on the subject. Windows 98 only supports the Fat and Fat32 file systems. The Fat files system does not support sizes over 2 gig. So unless you had to partion your hard drive 50 or so times you would be using Fat32.

FAT32 has a file size limit of 4 GB, too.

If the file size limit is 4gb, howcum my computer crashes when I play media files over 2GB?
Cheesehole wrote on 4/23/2002, 12:46 PM
how were the media files generated?

Could be the codec doesn't support files over 2GB.

The media files were generated using VV3 DV template onto a 7200 rpm Western Digital Firewire Drive. Interestingly, the program split the file when it reached the 4gb limit and created a second file for the balance of the project.
