Is Nesting Awesomely - Slow?

I've just tried nesting. Really neet idea! But... I've got a very simple 3 layer comp that would render in about 2 minutes. I've brought that project into another project and let that render. When it got the the nested area, it slowed down to a snail's pace: probably 8+ times slower than if I rendered a single file and brought that into the new project. Am I missing something?

I noticed it was a little slower, but I have a pretty fast machine; AMD Athlon 64 3500+.

I can imagine, were one to have a not quite so fast machine; a frequent boast of Vegas' abilties; it could be quite slow.

Do you have the latest build of V6 (v6b). If you have anything else the nesting was an extreme slow-down. This was due to a bug where it defaulted to running the nested Vegs in "BEST" mode instead of obeying the "main" Vegs preview settings. This was fixe in V6.0b

Well... my system isn't THAT slow... I'm running a P4 2.8GHz w/1GB of RAM under XP Pro, SP2 and an Nvidia Quadro4 750XGL. It ain't top of the line by any means, but it's not a snail either. But it sounds like even fast machines (based on your statement) experience a speed hit. Perhaps once more folk weigh in, I'll have a better feal if it really IS just my year-old system. But for now, pre-rendering sounds like the ticket.

Liam! You must have nailed it. I just looked at my build - AND I'M ON "A." Why the heck that is, I can only guess (that I upgraded my work computer and forgot about upgrading here at home).
Thanks man!
