Sony per se, isn't involved. Vegas will be showing in the Audio Post Production sessions, in the Noise Reduction sessions, and in the Surround Sound sessions. I'm teaching those 3.
The producers of the Post Production Conference, FMC, have traditionally been Mac-only until recently. Most of their guys are Mac-only guys. Sony's lack of participation, (I can only assume) is that they weren't asked, vs a decision not to participate. Then again, this conference has been in production since October, well before it was really known how the Sony acquisition was going to work. I'd be surprised if Sony isn't there next year.
You'll see one of the largest booths at NAB is Sony, so it's not like they'll be invisible.
Sony, including Sony Vegas, will have a monster presence at NAB. If you are able to make it out there, please stop by and say hello. Lots of Vegas developers and marketing people will be present throughout.
Thanks. I have never been to NAB and can't this year, but it seems like the post production conference is a little shoot off of the main NAB events. I know Sony will be at NAB in a big way from what we hear, but it seems they may not have anything in this section of NAB. When I scroll down to the 32 or so software companies involved I didn't see theirs, thus the post. I may be confused about the setup of the program though.
Thanks specifically SonyEPM for your post. It seems like you guys can finally take a deep breath with all the hard work you have been putting into V5.
All in all, I can't wait to watch the SCVUG streams of everything Sony that will happen there.
Nothing 'little' about the post production show with several thousand attendees. The show is more than just the new products on the show floor. It's a week of events like the Sony gathering, the VASST gathering, conferences, training sessions, paid and free seminars, lots of music, video, booze, handshaking, and more. It's an "Event" more than anything. Great fun, great time, and never wear new or heavy shoes. You'll walk a few miles every day. Never wear white shirts, because of all the shoulder-bumping, the sleeves turn grey in an hour.
The Post Production conference is sponsored by and contracted by the NAB. There are several different conferences on-going, PP by FMC is just one of them. It can get confusing if you're looking at the NAB convention homepage, no doubt.
