Is there a plugin with ONLY an audio spectrum?

Brylee wrote on 6/1/2019, 2:11 PM

I've searched a lot of places on YouTube for an audio spectrum within Vegas Pro 15. Yet every video shows a plugin, other than spending $400.00 or even upwards of $2000.00 for a SIMPLE audio spectrum, why couldn't they have made it within the program?

Vegas Pro 15 seems to be lacking in this area and they could have made at least one spectrum, considering they advertise Vegas Pro 15 as an AUDIO and video editing program. But I understand you CAN edit audio within the program, that's not the point.

It seems to me, that they are losing a lot of money with plugins made by other companies such as Boris FX Sapphire plugin.

Sure there is a trial of Boris FX Sapphire, but who wants a trial to create for a limited time? There is no point in buying plugins when the only thing I wanted was an audio spectrum, the rest of the video FX isn't appealing to me. I'm not saying it isn't worth it.

I guess Vegas Pro 15 isn't for me unless someone knows of a plugin that only has an audio spectrum without other video FX included. (So the prices aren't jacked.)

Voxengo Span. It's free.

I found several free VST audio spectrum analyzers on the web. Do a search for Free VST Audio spectrum.

Thank you for the help, but I'm having trouble installing the plugin, I did this: In Vegas Pro 15 - Options - Preferences - VST Effects - Browse Program folders to Voxengo folder - Apply.

I actually don't see any effects within this folder, I only see uninstall information and such.

What am I doing wrong?

There are different pathes for the Voxengo program files and the Voxengo VST file. You defined where the VST file was installed when you initially installed that Voxengo plug-in. So in the Vegas Pro settings you need to define the path to the VST file not to the Voxengo program folder.

After that is selected, it should show in the "Third Party" effects folder within Vegas Pro 15? I don't see anything new.

It's both available via the third party folder as well as via the VST folder and it is called "SPAN".

As Marco stated, the installer 'asks' where the plug-in is to be located. Many plug-in install VSTs in C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VST (or in the (x86) program files by default. If you prefer another location after installing, most VST plug-ins <.dll> can be moved to another folder w/o issue. Just make certain the VST's are in VP's default or alternate VST search folders. "Options> Preferences> VST Effects"

I see it installed in C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2\Voxengo yet it's not working, (I checked the installer for the exact folder it was installed in)

I'm not sure why it's not being added, I did download the correct version also. Thanks for helping me out, I'm not sure if there is any other way to install the plugin so it shows up in Vegas Pro 15.

I'm following the directions, yet Vegas Pro 15 isn't picking up the plugin in any folder for some reason. Here's a screenshot of Vegas Pro seeing the effect folder yet I don't see it anywhere in my effects after I click OK.

There are several VST versions available for install. You selected VST2 but I'm not sure this version is compatible with Vegas Pro. I selected VST (not VST2).

The latest version of the Voxengo Span has install options for VST 2, 3; 32 and 64 bit, as well as the AAX format (which is not currently supported by VP).
