Is there a way to do this?

I'm trying to have an audio track play from the moment my introduction media starts, and keep on playing right into, and throughout the menu. But I can't figure out how to accomplish this task.
Is it possible?

thanks,
robert

The only way is to make the intro media and the menu the same piece of video. Then you use the FADE In option for the buttons and delay them coming in.

Otherwise, the nature of DVDs is that each time you change media, everything changes including any music track.

One way:

Combine you intro media and menu image or video into a single clip, and select it to be the menu's Background Media. Set the Loop Point to the point in the video where your menu background begins. Do not set the End Action to Loop! Doing so would cause the audio to be interrupted and resume playing at the Loop Point when it loops. Unless you've planned a strategic break in the audio at this point, it will sound awkward.

Best strategy would be to set the End Action to Hold, and set the menu Length equal to the duration of your audio track. "Auto Calculate" may also work, but I haven't tried it in this scenario.

The result should be:

1) Audio track begins playing at the start immediately, and

2) continues uninterrupted as the menu buttons appear. It then,

3) stops at the end of the combined video clip, having played the entire audio track one time.

Hey guys,

Where is the Fade in option for buttons?
When I combine the media together, do I do this first in Vegas Pro, or is there a way to do it on the DVDA timeline?

thanks,
robert

You can't combine the media in DVD-A. Put 'em both on the timeline in Vegas Pro, and then render to a new file.

I don't think there's function called 'Fade' in DVD-A. If you follow the instructions in my previous message, the buttons will appear at the designated point. If you want something fancier, search the DVD-A Help for Transformation Keyframes.

Everything appears to work, but when the menu button is selected, it starts from the beginning of the clip again. I guess that's the only drawback to doing it this way?

thanks again,
robert

I don't have access to the project in which I employed this technique, but I think there's a way around your dilemma.

Call up Menu Page Properties and select Remote Buttons. About halfway down the list, see if Menu is turned on. If so, click on the little + sign to open the options list.

Look into the ones called Command, Destination and Destination Button. Examine the options. See if you can find a combination of choices among these three fields that specifies the menu Loop Point as your destination. (I can't be more specific here because these options are greyed-out and non-selectable with the simple project I am looking at in order to try to help you.)

It also occurs to me that you'll have to similarly select Loop Point as an End Action Destination if you have more than one video on your DVD. Otherwise, it will start from the beginning of the menu clip every time the end of a video is reached and the player returns to the menu.

Hi cbrillow,

Yes I was looking at the Menu button last night, and for some reason, mine is greyed out also. I too thought that would have been the fix. Oh well.........

thanks again,
