is there any change opacity setting for highlighting style?

Ok since my last menu wasn't workng out like it was suppose to i decided to redo the whole navagation in a different way. A way that I like alot better actually. I have come to another problem tho.

I made my whole background and menu titles in photoshot and just imported it as a background. Now I would make something like an arrow pointing to each line of text and set the opacity to like 99%, thus hiding them from view.

Then when you use a remote to navigate the menu the current selection would then bring the arrow into view by changing the opacity to say 1%. This way you get the sence the arrow is moving when you press down on the remote, when what is actually happening is that the opacity is changing.

So the arrow really controls the link to chapters in my movie. I have down so i can use a picture as a link, but i can't figure out how to change it so you can have the arrow come into and out of focus when it needs to happen.

This is how mout commercial DVDs work, by using some kind of arrow pointing to text that describes the selection.

How can I do this? I can't seem to figure it out... or is another menu idea down the drain?

I think it should work if you design the buttons to have the shape of an arrow, and set the alpha of their color to 1 (or maybe even zero). Then, set the highlight mode to "Mask Overlay" or "Image Mask Overlay", and set the highlight color to whatever color you want the arrow to be, and the alpha to opaque. That "should" get you what you want.

thanks.. i played around with that but it still didn't work. I set it to 0 and when I import it into DVD-A it's invisible, but it now only highlights it as a rectangle. I mean itreid all the highlighing options, but only the ones that would actually highlight it were the ones titled as rectangle.

I would think there would be an easier way to do this with any image directly in DVD-A. I guess not tho. Ah well.. back to the drawing board again...

Yep - I couldn't get it to work either. I did get something to work, though...

Make the mask all black so that none of the video shows through, then make the arrows the same color as the background (hopefully it isn't an animated background?!?). You can cut and paste parts of your image background to make the arrows, and hopefully you'll be able to move and size them to match the background once you get them into DVDA. That way, you won't be able to see the arrows normally. Now set the highlight to Image Mask Overlay, and that should do the trick.

Hopefully, SF will add the ability to have an arbitrarily shaped highlight, much like DVD Complete does. This way you could have arrows, bunnies, or whatever!
