Is this a codec issue ?

Hi,

I am trying to decompose one 25fps PAL AVI into its component frames. I have several programs that are able to do that (AviEdit, AVI Quick, ...) but all of them seem to have the same problem.

My AVI's were captured with Vegas, in PAL DV (lower field first). If I run one of them through GSpot Codec Identifier, I obtain the following clip properties: type OpenDML AVI, 4CC=dvsd, MainConcewpt DV Codec 2.0.3

Nevertheless, those programs (AviEdit, ...) are unable to read these clips. The only thing that I get is a screen full of big, colorful, square pixels, no image at all, but I can hear the sound of the clip.
The clips play well in Vegas, as well as WMP 9.

If I re-render the clip, the problem persists, *except* if I use some codecs (like Microsoft Video 1). In this case, I get a rendered clip that can be read and processed by the above editors.

By curiosity, I discovered that some Vegas clips that were post-processed by Dynapel SteadyHand were "good": they could be read by AviEdit.

Strange, isn't it ? Is it a limitation of those editors, or something to do with the MC codec ?

Thanks for your hints.
