Is it the time yet to purchase ANY Blu-ray burners? I'm taping a concert in HD at the end of this month involving a number of well-off families, and I would consider buying a BR burner and sell HD discs, but I don't want to get stuck with a burner that is obsolete in a year.

This one is. I bought it and have burnt a few discs with it and they play just fine and I have yet to make a toaster (but I have only used it about 5 times). It plays HD DVD and burns/plays BluRay and DVD. Further down the post there is a link to it that is a little cheaper.

The price of Blu-Ray burners and media is falling. www.tapeandmedia.com just dropped the price of their Verbatim 25GB BD-R media by almost a dollar to $9.88.

I have no idea why SuperMediaStore is still charging $17 for the same thing. I've bought a lot of Blu-Ray media from TapeandMedia, they have been a reliable supplier.

I suggest the LG drive. It works very well and reads HD-DVD also. Future drives from LG may not include the HD-DVD reading, that may make this drive the only multi-HD drive available.

That $269 price at Supermedia is a great deal.
