Is this possible in PAL > NTSC conversions?

Is it possible to do this? I wish to convert a VHS PAL tape to an NTSC digital tape on either D8, or mini-DV. I propose to simply hook up the RCA outputs from the PAL VCR to the RCA inputs on either of my Sony digital camcorders, D8 or mini-DV. Press play on the PAL VCR and record on the NTSC camcorder. Is this a valid way of converting? I'm asking because I don't have a PAL VCR, but am considering getting one if this is feasable. Are there any issues with the conversions, especially going from 25 to 30. Will the NTSC output look like a digital clone of the PAL tape? Anyone with experience doing this? If it's not possible, what must one do to convert PAL VHS tapes to NTSC digital tape?

No, your NTSC camera won't accept the PAL signal via composite or iLink. You'll need a box to convert this. Vegas can capture it with no issue, but you'll need an A to D converter like the ADS or the Canopus. Both are NTSC/PAL switchable. It's no big thing going from PAL to NTSC, not really, but it's a bigger deal going from NTSC to PAL.
