Is this the way to get external monitoring for HDV?

Just in from Canopus:

"EDIUS NX for HDV hardware can perform bidirectional conversion between analog and DV, from within any Windows-based NLE that supports OHCI. This means that applications such as Avid® Xpress® DV, Vegas® and Adobe® Premiere® Pro can capture and output DV using EDIUS NX for HDV's analog video I/O. EDIUS NX for HDV features the same technology found in Canopus's highly-acclaimed series of ADVC products, offering the very best in picture quality preservation and A/V synchronization. "

Edius NX for HDV also ships with Screenblast Acid. So it would seem that Canopus and Vegas have been talking, not a bad thing, I have a lot of respect for Canopus hardware and their codec work seems pretty good as well, would be nice to hear something about what's going on from this side of the table though.

It's one way, yes. I think it's gonna be a while though, til we see HD export from the Vegas timeline and/or hardware assistance to do so. My pref at the moment, is just to use a 1900 monitor.
I've not physically worked with the new Edius system, but will report on it after DV Expo.

I've had a good look at it but not hands on. I'm having another look next week, price is very reasonable, under $15K to talk to HDCAM.
Our first serious HDV client will be needing output to HDCAM, he may end up shooting mixed HDV and HDCAM, I'd like to be in a position to offer him a solution.
