Is track 1 special in Vegas Pro?

I have been doing some testing for a beta program (can't say which one just yet) and I am finding that adding FX's on track 1 can work differently than on track 2. I seem to remember something about track 1 from a long-ago discussion, does anyone have any information on that?

The problem I am seeing is I put 2 generated media events on a track, and add a FX to each. If it is track 1, Vegas crashes. If it is track 2, everything is fine, in fact I can delete track 1 and things will continue just fine.

I'm pretty sure there's nothing intentionally different. However, this might be a good lead for the SCS debuggers!

Memory thoroughly "jogged" . . .

Erm . . . . . , wasn't it that on T1 IF you momentarily moved TEXT away from ZERO and then back? Wasn't that it?

Hmm, could be, that sounds dimly familiar. This is not text, but it is generated media. Might have been ProType?

By George, you got it! Thank you so much, Grazie.

Wiggling the first event off zero, dropping it, and then moving it back to zero seems to have cured the problem.

So then I played with turning snap on and off, and the problem seems not to exist with snap off, don't have to do the wiggle.

And then just to confound things, whether snap is on or off the problem seems to have gone completely away. Maybe some switch deep in the bowels of Vegas is being left off (or on).

BTW, did anyone notice the resizeable posting window here on the forum? Cool.

The resizeable text window is a function of the newer web browsers. You'll notice that almost every site you visit now sports this new "feature", as long as they use specific text wrap styles.

I haven't used NewBlueFx Titler Pro much, but I'm wondering if the same workaround can be applied to help fix those crashes. Would it have the same snap function that you can turn off ?

Ah, yes. And dxdy, this is not a "cure". At best it underlines a fatal flaw. At least it gets you going again. Report it!! I now report a cascade of instances of ALL bugs.

This is a nasty bug. I'd say it has been created from the same DNA as the AWOL media. It only turns up at specific instances.

I'd advise all to keep reporting to SCS. The more the better. I keep reporting and keep the volume high. Report now and report often! Report back here you have done so.

I just read we could be loosing another 10 year Vegas stalwart, "Laurence". Now is the time to dig in and keep reporting. Silence, at least not from us, is not an option..

Graham "Grazie" Bernard.
