Issue with Black Border Cropping Preview Window when Using 2D Shadow

Hello, I’m hoping someone can help me sort out an issue I’ve been dealing with. I’m surprised there were little to no answers online since I tried searching on Google multiple times.

I’m having this on‑and‑off problem in VEGAS Pro where it doesn’t seem to detect the preview window properly whenever the 2D Shadow effect from Track Motion is enabled, for some reason. Because of this, a black bar seems to show up and crop the corner of the screen which makes it frustrating to work around.

A few days ago I managed to remove the black bar by experimenting with different settings, but I honestly have no idea what I did and now it’s starting to bother me. After restarting my laptop the next day, the black bar came back, and I STILL can’t even remember how I fixed it.

Holding SHIFT+CTRL while launching VEGAS didn’t help, and using Pan/Crop barely makes a difference either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Everything is listed down below including the computer specs, hardware setup, project data, project settings, and program version.

@crazyc00l19 Hi, does it still happen if you change the preview option to Good (Full)?

Yes, I tried setting it to different options and it still remains the same.

@crazyc00l19 It's to say then.

  • The Preview (Full, Half etc) can show some odd results in the preview window compared to Good or Best.
  • Check the keyframes in the Track Motion window.
  • Clicking 100% in the scale drop down centres the preview image but if there's a bug it won't fix it.
  • You say you've checked Pan/Crop,, but that shouldn't affect this if it hasn't been altered.

Beyond that I don't know, sorry.

It's okay, your effort is appreciated. I'm moving the picture with the Track Motion around and the black box covering it makes it seem like it's a picture within a picture (which I know the point of using it). Pan/Crop only takes up space within the Track Motion window. There is also the Split-Screen icon which removes effects as far as I know, but that doesn't work either. Right now, I'm testing every effect option under the hood to see if anything fixes the issue.

UPDATE: I'm not sure exactly what I did now, but for no reason the shadowing went back to normal after I tried messing around with these settings under the Preferences tab.
