Issue with Filter Packages

glittergirl wrote on 6/30/2017, 3:49 PM

Hi everyone,

I'm currently using Sony Vegas Pro 14 to work on a project of mine and I have run into an issue when I try to apply a saved filter package of mine to each clip. When I open the individual clip's effects tab and click to add the filter package it removes any effects on the clip that were there before the package was added.

For example the filter package may contain colour curves, colour corrector and brightness and contrast but if the clip I try to apply it to already has a black and white effect, this will be removed when the filter package is added.

So how do I stop any previous effect being removed from the clip when the filter package is added? Have I left on some strange setting? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

We can't. Been using VP since 2002 and haven't yet discovered a way. One of the paid-for Scripts may do it.

Here's a lumpy work around. You could add each FX as a separate Preset Link and chain that way. Yeah, not pretty. But, once done save THAT new Chain as a Preset package.

The other thing to do is to surgically re-review your FX chain and question if you really need all the parts.

OK! - This may not be useful, but . . . Leave the Event FXs alone, but now ADD your Filter Package to the TRACK in the Track Header. This works, however it DOES mean that the FP is added to ALL that Track.

Any good?

I took a break from Vegas for a while but I'm 99% sure when I used older versions in the past this was possible. I don't like adding the filter package to the entire track because it contains a lot of effects and the fades and transitions don't appear as smooth. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I can confirm that this was not possible since VP7... which is the first Version I worked with.

Yes, OS, I've done searching here back to 2002 and this has been a wish for adding Fx Packages to FXs from then.

If using script we can add multiple Presets FX on a single video?

Would your Presets FX be Packages. We're talking Packages.

Yes, we are talking about packages. You can't add a package without deleting all FX that may already be applied.

Sorry, but no, I have to confirm what others have said, this was never possible.
