Issue With SONY Vegas Movie Studio 9 Plat. Pro..?

Hello. I have a SONY Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack physical software product in a retail box. I also have Windows 7 Professional 64-bit operating system. I placed the DVD-ROM of the video editing software into my DVD optical drive. The Windows AutoPlay window appeared and I proceeded to the folder containing the SONY Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack. The files and folders opened. I then clicked on the ‘setup’ file in the listing. The setup.exe file is the first set of files in the DVD optical drive of the DVD-ROM of this SONY video editing program. Following the clicking of the set.exe file, the User Account Control (UAC) appears. I click “Yes” and then I get the message “Unable to run AutoPlay program”. This is strange and unusual. I click “OK” and of course, nothing happens.

I then proceeded thinking (but not proven as the cause by any means) that the CD\DVD-ROM AutoPlay may not be enabled – yet it ran when I placed the SONY video editing software in my DVD optical drive. I type in the ‘Run’ dialog box: g:\setup.exe , execute UAC, and I still get the same message “Unable to run AutoPlay program” message. Hmm… Then, I went into gpedit.msc (Local Group Policy Editor) and even browse to “Computer Configuration” -> “Administrative Templates” -> “Windows Components” -> “Autoplay Policies” -> “Turn off Autoplay” -> change from “Not configured” to “Disabled” obviously. I still receive the “Unable to run AutoPlay program” message. These routine steps here didn’t prove anything to solve the issue with the Windows message “Unable to run AutoPlay program”. It still appears with AutoPlay activated through Windows Group Policy Editor option enabled, I still get the Windows message “Unable to run AutoPlay program” for clicking on setup.exe file in this SONY editing software program.

I have never had this happen before. I have run programs from CDs or DVDs and burning CDs and DVDs just recently without any issues running the stup.exe file. Following this unusual issue, I placed an ATI Catalyst Software DVD in my same DVD optical drive to determine if it was my Windows 7 64-bit operating system and the AutoPlay works fine. I can run the setup executable program for this software without any issues. Therefore the setting for AutoPlay for my Windows 7 is fine. This is the first time I have had this particular issue. This is the first time I am installing this SONY Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack on my Windows 7 64-bit.

I have tried running the "Run as administrator" right-click command on the setup.exe file in the DVD optical drive of the DVD-ROM of this SONY video editing program. I still end up getting that message “Unable to run AutoPlay program”.

I found a solution to run the setup.exe file on this SONY software DVD-ROM. I did some looking around with this DVD’s files and folders. There happens to be a 'folder' called "setup" that contains all the components of this software setup installer products. Inside it is an "Common" folder that is a combined component installer file [file path: G:\setup\Common\Autorun.exe]. I just noticed it after looking into the other files and folders in the DVD. Execute "Autorun" (autorun.exe) and it DOES RUN following the UAC. Hurray!!! This is the one I will use. I also said that it contains all the components that are individually listed too. I attempted to install the first of the components of their products using the slightly different file path or directory [G:\setup\English\Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0\setup.exe] and it also executed the component following UAC too.

So I return back to my issue again when runs the SONY Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack physical software DVD-ROM’s setup.exe file when you open the DVD on my DVD optical drive. I do not know why I get “Unable to run AutoPlay program”? I need to know why this happens when the setup.exe file 'should' run the setup installer file and NOT get “Unable to run AutoPlay program”.

I need you help on answers and solutions to this issue? What is going on here?

Please reply.

Thank you!

I'm still learning this program myself but will submit the following.

Provided I really understand your problem have you 'right clicked' on the .exe file and choose 'run as administrator'?

Are there any anti-virus or other programs running in the background?

Just a couple of thoughts to eliminate the simple things.

Hope that helps or at least you got a bump.

Good luck...

@ chulaivet1966 & anyone:

Hello. Thanks for your reply. Nice to meet you.

Yes, I didn't allude to this in my initial post; but yes, I disabled my security software suite program completely and to no avail did this solve the problem. This is inherent to the SONY DVD-ROM disk, at least 'my' disk.

I am just trying to figure this out. I have an older version of SONY Vegas Movie Studio 9 that SONY technical support will not assist me for a resolution to this issue since this version of their product is outdated. Their system tosses me to this forum when I try to subit an e-mail to SONY technical support to find some resolution. That is why I am here.

If you or anyone can think of a resolution to this issue, please reply.

Thanks!

OK....last idea to be sure of.

If you are sure you are installing from a DVD drive and think the DVD is corrupted can you make a backup DVD and see if that one will install correctly?

Last thing I would try (if you haven't already) is uninstall everything along with all registry entries which I'm not qualified to guide you on.
Make sure there is NO applications running in the background....and try again.

Sorry I'm little help but I'm a neophyte too.

Good luck...
