in vegas pro 22 okay so i have an issue where if i put a video like 30 gb video .mkv onto the timeline, the thumbnails and video in the preview just keep looping back to the beginning and doesnt move forward and for like hours in the timeline it just shows the beginning thumbnail. and its confusing to use especially when im a new person using this software.

i have a 13th gen i7 13700f

rtx 4060 ti

and 32gb of ram

running windows pro 11

How long is this video?....You actually have to scroll into the timeline for a better visual preview..... Also make sure in Preferences under the Video tab, you will see the option Thumbnails to show in video events, set to All.

like 4 hours or more and yeah it is on all but like the first few hours in the timeline are glitchy and whenever i move the cursor it keeps looping back to the beginning and overall its just buggy, but when i use a short video it works perfectly fine. i thought vegas pro was supposed to handle large and long videos. if not i might take my leave and find a better software

Vegas can more than handle large and long videos easily. Quite often my projects include longer videos than that without encountering any issues. However its that mkv video file that may be causing you this issue. Because mkv file formats are not really edit friendly for many editing software.

ohh okay ill use handbrake to format it then tysm (or if you have a better software to encode it to mp4)
mp4 has been working mostly amazing just that i cant figure out why the preview is in slowmo? even though rate is at 1.00, if you recommend me settings for vp22 itself, with the specs i have that would be amazing

Shutter Encoder is a much better converter. Using the H.264 (mp4) output works well within Vegas.
