Issue with what appears to be a linked Generated Media(color gradient)

Vegas Movie Studio 17 build 204 on a Win 10 PC
I had a single generated media gradient color (grey/white radial) on a track (nothing else on the track).
I then split that gradient so I could adjust it a bit based on a time. Didn't want to use the animation function since it is easier to just copy/stretch the sections I need elsewhere.
The gradients are not part of a group

The two gradients seem to be linked together somehow and I don't see how. When I make changes in one, it changes the other. I know I can just create a new one but figured it would be nice to know how to link/unlink two media items.

If you just splitting that same gradient media generated clip, then the adjustments will always linked, because you are dealing with the same source of Media Generated.

So you need to re-put the new gradient clip, OR, you can also ctrl-drag the clip (copy) and in the dialog box, create new copy:
