It's negative, I'm positive!

I've been trying to finish up a wedding video for my step-sister so I could give it to her at Thanksgiving and I ran into a problem placing buttons that I couldn't resolve. Hopefully, someone here can help.
I took a screen capture from within Vegas and copied out of the viewer image what I wanted to use as a button on my background theme and saved that as a .png file within my graphics editor (mspaint on the PC I was using. I just haven't had time to load another program yet.) I then set the mask of the button to be that image. When I placed it then looked at it in Preview it looked like a slide negative. Since the .png file was a picture of the bride & groom this stark 'negative' quality was NOT the effect I was looking for. I just wanted a full color image to use as the button. So, what did I do wrong and how do I get a full color button on my theme screen? Thanks and I hope everyone stays safe this holiday!

Mike

I have no idea what went wrong, but have you tried inversing the image in MSPaint so that it's a negative there? Then maybe it would look positive in the end.

Why aye oughta, nrk, nrk, nrk,

Thank you for that! Now, why didn't I think of it?!? I guess the fact that it was 12:30 this morning had something to do with it. I tried your suggestion on another project and it worked perfectly. The weird thing about this is I loaded the demo version of Vegas on my PC at work to play with at lunch and the same thing happened here. I got a picture off the web, saved it then assigned it as the mask for the play project I made and each one of them showed up as a negative image. I'm using the Funky theme on this PC but I used the Wedding 1 theme on the other project. When I went into MSPaint and inverted the colors the picture came out fine. Thanks Chien!

Another thing about this. One of my menu options was for Scene Selections and when I placed Chapter markers throughout the video, the individual scene buttons grabbed a still shot from the media and that became the button. On a few of them however, I had faded to black and that was what the button looked like, so that's why I wanted to change them in the first place. But whenever I assign a new image to the Mask for that button, it comes out negative.

This may be something to do with adding an image as a mask rather than just as a piece of media. Have you tried the media way?

- and did you know that you can change the thumbnail pic in a video button by dragging the Media /Start Time slider?
