Jerky HD Video

I currently use Vegas Platinum Pro 9 and I seem to be having issues with "jerky" HD video. Does anyone know if my version of the software supports HD video? It seems that there is a lag when I try to edit HD video and on playback while editing. I don't have any issues when working with video from my JCV Everio GZ series. Will this issue go away if I upgrade to Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 or Pro Suite?

Tech Support no longer supports my version.

THANK YOU in advance for your HELP!!! I REALLY APPRECIATE IT.

First off, please fill in your system specifications in your user profile, otherwise it will be very hard to help you. Second, this is the Vegas Pro forum and the Platinum product belongs to the Vegas Studio line, so you are better off posting there. Lastly, you need to supply more details about about what you are doing before your question can be answered.

I mostly use Vegas Pro 9 and it handles AVCHD from my Everio pretty nicely. I usually get full frame rate or close to it most of the time. On my big editing PC, dual-core 3.0GHz Pentium, it sometimes slows down to maybe 24fps instead of 29.97, but usually plays straight clips with no effects at full speed. The only real lag is when the timeline scrolls and the thumbnails redraw.

On my quad core 2.2GHz Phenom laptop Pro 9 runs AVCHD smooth a silk, even with some effects and overlays.

I've played a bit with the new version of Vegas Studio on my laptop and it seems a little better than Pro 9, as in i can add more effects or overlays and still get full speed, but the difference isn't that dramatic.

Probably it depends more on your hardware than on the version of Vegas. In general though, the Studio version of Vegas at the same number version is usually a little more advanced than the Pro version. That means that Studio 9 will probably perform a little better than Pro 9, for example. The studio versions tend to get the updates and improvements before the Pro version.
