Jerky playback in VMS HDP 10

I saw discussion on this a few days ago before the program arrived, but can't find it now. Installed the program. Captured media. Put some on the timeline and played. It's all still photos instead of moving video. I think I finally broke down and paid the big bucks to get the answer a couple of years ago when I upgraded from VMS 8 to VMS 9. I'm running Vista. 4Gg of ram. Two hard drives. 500 and 320. Each less than half full. Maybe this is why they were having a sale.

All video editors have this problem. The system requirements for editing and playing back are quite different. Sony Vegas gives you the ability to choose during timeline playback a compromise between smooth playback and the fidelity of the image in the display window. If, for example, you choose Draft (Half) it will play back smoothly but with some pixelation. You will need to experiment with all the options to see what works best for you. Someday we hope to have GPU acceleration for the preview monitor but it is not here yet.

Thanks. It's a shame that Tech Support can't respond as quickly.
