from my professional experience, vegas is used by a lot of indie producers of all types of productions, from event through to feature, BUT is not a recognized 'professional' nle, unlike avid, resolve, fcp, etc.,

i don't think i've ever seen, or heard of anyone looking for a vegas editor (other than as a recourse when overextended - as i once saw on the old sony board.

unfortunately, if you want a job in this industry you have to learn the tools of the trade, rather than be able to do things much quicker and simpler in vegas ;-)
