Jog-Shuttle control

In general, do folks here find hardware jog-shuttle devices useful with Vegas? I am toying with the idea of getting one, but if it won't improve productivity I don't want to waste my money.

Frankly, the last time I used one was back in the late 1970s when I was an engineer at Sony Broadcast division in New York. We had huge spools of video tape for which the jog-shuttle dial was the prefered method of navigation (unless you knew a specific time code).

I enjoy using the contour shuttle. Especially for scrubbing and jogging. With a little programming you can minimize your Keyboard contacts, but you still need the mouse.

I borrowed one and used it for about fifteen minutes. It didn't fit my editing style and I didn't find any advantage to it. The JKL keys, if properly set up, and once you understand the "hidden" trick to them, do everything I need.

To me such a Jog-Shuttle device is a must-have. I love the workflow it gives to me.

I wouldn’t edit without it. It is an incredible productivity tool especially when you need to do frame accurate editing. Having shuttle control and all of your edit keys at your fingertips in the order you want them will spoil you. You can get into a real rhythm when culling out unwanted parts. Like I said, I wouldn’t edit with out it.

I can barely edit wouthout mine - plus you can use it with most other software, at least in the case with the Contour Shuttle.

Using it for all kinds... Word, Publisher, Explorer, Photoshop. Set up slightly different for each one.
