Jumpy Video

I am super new to this program and this medium in general. I have a VERY small presentaions company that, prior to using Vegas, did all my work in Powerpoint. I LOVE this software so far. I have been having a problem everytime I use any of the files I have created though. When I open the file and play it. There is a "jumpiness" to the display. It only happens on still images though. It seems the software has to "catch up" or something. The cursor will go across a transistion between 2 events and the preview will lag behind and sort of jump to the next event at times. (Best explanation I can give. Sorry!) The weird thing is, if I save it to the hard drive in any form, the video plays just fine. Is there a setting I need to tweak?
Thanks,
Ron

1. You always must tweak the "project properties" to the right frame rate and size. For presentations i would go to 720x480 at 15fps (if no actual video is included but just static text and images).
2. Always resize your images to 655x480 (given you set your project as 720x480 4:3) and never use them as huge megapixel pictures inside Vegas. Info here http://eugenia.gnomefiles.org/2007/10/29/sony-vegas-tips-tricks/
3. Buy a faster CPU and more RAM.

Right-click on the image and select 'reduce interlace flicker'. If you have many images, work with the 'switch' so you have to do this only once.
