Just a quick note to anyone considering Uled Cool 3D for titles...

Disclaimer-- I don't work for ANY of the companies that I'm going to mention!

Just something cool for anyone looking into this program for titles (I've seen it batted around a couple of times in this forum)... if you subscribe to 'Computer Videomaker' magazine, they'll send Cool 3D 3.5 (and a couple of other Ulead programs) for free. Not demos, but the full version... a subscription runs all of $14 or so. Just in case anyone's looking to save a few bucks.

And actually, after a day of playing around with it, the program looks to be pretty good! A bit CPU heavy, but I'm running it on an older machine...

Good luck,
David.

Looks like you can download the Ulead trial software directly from ulead's site. Fine print says it's good for 30 days, which is what the Videomaker subscription form says:

"Yes, please send my FREE CD with video editing software. I'll receive fully-functioning 30-day trial versions of Ulead's software products, including COOL 3D 3.5, DVD MovieFactory, VideoStudio DVD Edition and MediaStudio!"

That's funny-- the packaging that came with the CD makes great pains to stress that they are not trail versions. Some excerpts:

'We want you to try Ulead software for Free. No time dated trials.'
and
'Complimentary full software versions and not-time dated trials.'

Those are from the cardboard case the CD was in-- they, for whatever reason, assume that I'm going to run them on multiple machines & buy more licenses.
I'll let you know in 30 days if it was, indeed, a trial then, I guess!

David.

I guess you could change your computer clock to 30 days in the future, and you will be able to tell if it is demo immediately?

Doing that is likely to destroy the invisible code activator used by some companies. Once you reach 30 days, or whatever, a certain hidden file is corrupted so that it registers that the time is passed, the program will not overwrite it, and you are stuck. Turning back the clock will not uncorrupt the file. DEAD!
